MISCELLANEOUS INFO FOR YOU

If Essential Oils get into your eye, dilute the area immediately with vegetable (olive, coconut, etc.) or carrier oil. Do this by placing the vegetable oil on a tissue and gently wiping your eye area. Repeat as necessary.

Essential Oils are most effective in small amounts, and lose their value, and may even be harmful, in large amounts. Less is More.

Did you know that high-quality Essential Oils do not simply mask symptoms as synthetically created products do. They pass through cell membranes to address the root causes of issues on a cellular level.

Be careful when applying citrus EOs and lemongrass on your skin because they are photosensitive and can cause you to burn when in the sun.

Vitamins are either fat-soluble (A,D,E,K), or, water-soluble (C and all the Bs). Essential Oils do not have fat or water in them, therefore, they are not a source of vitamins.

EUCALYPTUS FOR CLEAR BREATHING

Eucalyptus Essential Oil is not meant to be ingested. It's an ideal oil to diffuse to promote feelings of clear breathing and open airways due to its chemical components. It's one of 8 oils in doTerra's blend "Breathe."

Diffusing Eucalyptus also promotes feelings of relaxation and helps clear your mind. When applied topically (after diluting with a carrier oil), Eucalyptus has purifying properties that can be beneficial for the skin.

Caution: Keep completely away from children! Do not use if pregnant (as with most Essential Oils).

THOSE HEALTHY GREEN DRINKS!

If you want to drink one of those healthy green drinks but don't particularly like the taste, here's a healthy tip: Add 1 drop of either Peppermint or Wild Orange Essential Oil. Nummy. Wild Orange supports a healthy immune system. Peppermint promotes healthy respiratory function, clear breathing, and digestive health.
All you need is one drop because EOs are potent if purchased from a reliable company. Those $8 oils at drugstores, etc. are not meant to be consumed.
You can be confident you're getting 100% pure Essential Oils when you buy doTerra. Personally, I wouldn't even buy them off of Amazon because you don't know if someone has replaced the essential oil with something else, like vegetable oil.

ESSENTIAL OILS AND HERBS

It takes 8,000 rose flowers to produce just one 5 mL bottle of doTerra's pure rose oil. This is the equivalent to 42 pounds of rose petals.*
Because pure essential oils are so highly concentrated, they are 50 to 70 times more therapeutically potent than the herbs or plants they are derived from. Dried herbs lose up to 90% of their healing nutrients and oxygen molecules, whereas essential oils do not.**

Just one drop of doTerra's pure, therapeutic peppermint oil equals about 28 cups of peppermint tea!***

Once a fresh plant is dried, very little of the essential oil is still left. It’s the same with herbs. Once an herb is dried, it only contains 3 – 5% of its essential oil, and it’s the Essential Oil that gets us well. The process of drying the herb causes many molecules found in the essential oil of the plant to be lost altogether. This is why pure Essential Oils are more potent than herbs. Does this mean that you should never use herbs? Absolutely not! Herbs have many uses.**
To get pure, therapeutic EOs, see comment below. Be sure you're buying pure Essential Oils from a trusted source.

DILUTING ESSENTIAL OILS

Wise thought for the day: Please be careful when using Essential Oils. For topical use, it's wise to use a "carrier oil" to minimize skin sensitivity to your therapeutic-grade oil. For acute use: Dilute one drop Essential Oil (EO) to five drops or more of a "carrier oil" depending on skin sensitivity, or as directed on EO label. Carrier oils help "carry" EOs into your skin. You don't want to develop a permanent sensitization to an EO. Sensitivity is forever! I've said it before, with Essential Oils: Less is More! Never overdo EO use. They're wonderful healers, but they're also potent.

Even if you've used an EO on your skin before and didn't have a problem, skin sensitivity can be developed with long-term use. A great "carrier oil" is pure Fractionated Coconut Oil (FCO). Dilute one drop Essential Oil to five drops or more of Fractionated Coconut Oil (FCO) for acute use.

For long-term use, get 10 ml roller bottles. There are 20 drops in one ml, 200 drops in 10 ml. To make a 2% solution, add 4 drops of your Essential Oil to the roller bottle, then fill the bottle with your "carrier oil", such as FCO. (200 X .02 = 4). For a 3% solution, add 6 drops of your Essential Oil to the roller bottle, fill with FCO. (200 X .03 = 6).

Facial applications should be 1%. This would be 2 drops EO to the 10 ml (200 drops) roller bottle. Be careful not to get it close to your eyes.
If you ever develop a topical sensitivity to an EO, discontinue immediately. But diluting in FCO should prevent any sensitivity. DoTerra has pre-diluted Essential Oils at low percentages for children and babies, which should be used.

Be wise. Only use EOs that have been tested for purity, like doTerra oils. You can get doTerra's FCO and roller bottles here: mydoterra.com/bethblake

INFLAMMATION AND COGNITIVE DECLINE

Chronic inflammation beginning in middle age has been linked to cognitive decline in later years, according to a new cohort study. In the study of over 12,000 participants, mid-life inflammation was correlated with a sharp decline in cognitive decline – especially memory.
This is one of the first studies of its kind to look at midlife inflammation and memory rather than inflammation later in life. Dr. Keenan Walker of Johns Hopkins University, one of the authors of the study, elaborates: "While other studies have looked at chronic inflammation and its effects on the brain in older people, our large study investigated chronic inflammation beginning in middle age and showed that it may contribute to cognitive decline in the decades leading up to old age. "
How can you combat chronic inflammation? Certain Essential Oils such as Copaiba (the best!) reduce inflammation and support the immune system. Basil, Clove, Frankincense, Ginger, Rosemary, and Thyme are also anti-inflammatory. When taking internally, use just one drop a day.
Don't take if already on anticoagulants. Talk to your doctor first. You can be confident you're using the best oils when you use doTerra, known for superior testing.
